Looking for new job opportunities? Would you like a good-paying, family-supporting job with a local manufacturer? The Greater Reading Chamber Alliance has received funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) for a new training program. This new GRCA program will provide manufacturing career training for individuals who are interested in careers in manufacturing. The program is designed to deliver training that leads not simply to any job, but to careers that offer higher pay and opportunities for advancement.
It isn’t often that you get a chance to make a real impact and help people change their lives. For us at the GRCA, we could imagine no better outcome.
The training program is free to individuals who face barriers in the workplace, such as those who speak English as a second language. Through a defined series of courses over 10 weeks, individuals will sharpen their conversational business English skills and acquire critical business and adaptive skills desired by employers. All graduates of the program receive a nationally-recognized certificate.
Additionally, four partner manufacturers have agreed to interview all graduates from the program. This is a win/win proposition: motivated individuals have the chance to gain new, highly desired skills while providing employers a pipeline of motivated prospective employees to help continue their growth.
This free program starts with a pilot session on August 13, with another session starting in late September. We will also offer free information sessions in August.
