Go you “Busy-Bee” Go!!! Yes, YOU… the one with so much stuff on your plate: your work life and work load, your kids, their activities and sports, house chores, the holidays, decorating your house, cooking meals, your pets, etc. Of course, that annual vacation will bring you some well-deserved relief… just remember to schedule a few days off when you get back… it’s amazing how you need a vacation from your vacation! The point is… it would be a shame to work as hard as you do, achieve your definition of professional success, have the house of your dreams… and be miserable and stressed-out the whole time!
The truth is… YOU are busy, everyone is busy… no one cares! “Busy” doesn’t mean better, “Busy” doesn’t mean productive, and “Busy” certainly doesn’t mean joy or happy! Productive, Better, Joy, and Happiness is up to you. No one is willing to give you more time… it is up to you do make it happen! Ready?
My solution is so simple and right under your nose. Actually, it’s in your pocket or in your purse. It’s your phone!!! Use your calendar feature to put YOU, your relationship, and the life of your dreams into your schedule. I once met with a gentleman who was super stressed; in front of him on the table was his calendar… booked with things to do and people to service. I simply asked, “Where are you in all of this?”. He looked at me stunned… and then the light bulb went off! Yes, putting YOU or your relationship in the calendar may take away the allure of spontaneity… but if this article resonates with you… you have little of that anyway!
Putting YOU in your calendar is “Making the Time”. Most people will work around what already exists in their schedule. Be sure to respect YOU, your relationships, and your life when that special day and time arises. Respecting YOU is considered “Taking the Time”. You may be tempted to push it off, come up with excuses as to why you don’t need it, or replace it with something or someone else. DON’T!!! Add YOU and your relationships (as a husband/wife, son/daughter, mother/father, brother/sister, friends, etc.) Add YOU and your relationships to your calendar and begin to live the life of your dreams. Do it and enjoy… don’t and keep getting what you’ve gotten!
