The Greater Reading Chamber Alliance and Women2Women offer many opportunities for women right here in Berks County to build their professional network, learn new skills, and get ahead. Membership in Women2Women is free; just head to www.berkswomen2women.com to join. For Latina women, there are many ways to get involved in this community.
Women2Women’s Latina Affairs Committee diligently works to bring new programs to women in our area. Women2Women offers De Mujer a Mujer events, fun, friendly, and free monthly meetings where you can network and listen to an engaging speaker from the Latina community. Additionally, a monthly book club is held at Mi Casa Su Casa, where members read books on topics ranging from sharing your own story to financial wellness. And if you’ve thought about going back to school, Women2Women members receive a tuition discount at Alvernia University. Information about all these activities can be found at Women2Women’s website.
Taking part in these activities can make a huge difference in your personal and professional life. Esteffani Alcantara of Remcon Plastics said, “De Mujer a Mujer serves as a venue for me to connect with women from all walks of life and empower one another.” Each event or program is an opportunity to learn something new, expand your skills, and meet inspirational leaders in our area. Whether you’re looking to learn from your peers’ experiences or learn about valuable resources that could help your work or home life, networking opportunities are crucial for professional success.
Next year, Women2Women’s Latina Initiatives committee will partner with The Literacy Council of Reading to educate attendees on volunteer opportunities to teach an ESL class or attend an ESL class as part of our professional development series. Inspirational speakers/topics and professional development workshops are all on the docket for next year as well.
