There are thousands of reasons why we fall in love; but there are certain people who always end up falling for others who are not available.
Often times it has to do with the unfinished chapters of our childhood;that father or mother who was not available. We try to give a happy ending to a new story guided by an emotional event that we could not overcome. We want to teach someone to love us when love is not taught, it is born or not born, it’s either there or it’s not there.
Trying to win the heart of someone who is clearly not interested puts us at risk of having that person take advantage of the situation. Love is not something you have to fight for, or win. Love is something that is given, and when it’s not given, it shows. It’s noticeable because the person does not want to invest time in you. It’s noticeable because the person only cares about fulfilling their own needs. It’s noticeable because they make you feel like you’re not enough. You will know because it is not love.
To get out of that cycle we must understand that there is no way to change our past. We are only responsible for forgiving and healing. We must choose to meet others who are different from those we have met. We must understand that love is not a feeling that is felt upon seeing another, but the decision to walk together in the same direction.
