The first gift that should be on our list is intended for ourselves. This is learning to live in the present. It is very easy to let our thoughts lead us to the worries of the future and the memories of the past, so that we do not live and value the moment where we are at present. Several studies have proven that when people make the effort to enjoy the current moment, they are happier. The second gift is to help others. This act of love forces us to disconnect from our ego and concerns, and focus on the other. Sometimes we are so focused on our own lives that we forget about those who are in a more uncomfortable situation than ours.
The more we focus on giving happiness to others, the happier we are. The more we understand the value of living in the present, the less worry and negative feelings we experience. These ideas are so simple, but not for their simplicity they are easy to put into practice. They must be implemented with effort and perseverance.
Don’t allow the material gifts to be the priority in your life this Christmas season. Give yourself the happiness and enjoyment of living in the moment, and give your dedication and love to those who are in need. Happiness multiplies when it is shared and life is more beautiful when we live it fully.
