With the arrival of the New Year, resolutions arrive, which at the end of January we leave forgotten with the great excuse of not having time. My resolutions each year are many and different however I manage to fulfill them with determination and sacrifice.
In 2012, I took the initiative to transform my body and leave in the past the insecurities that I had been carrying from my childhood and adolescence. I was so thin that I did not consider myself attractive, my hair was so curly, that many children referred my hair as brillo pad, or pepper head. To gain weight I took as many pills as they said and I softened my curls. Even with the extra pounds and straightened hair, I felt empty and not myself. With time I realized that the problem was me and that I had to accept my figure and my origins.
In my 40’s I found balance and acceptance of my body by taking the steps for a transformation of what I really wanted, not only physical, but also internal. I told myself I want to have a good figure for my health and for me. In 2012 I joined the gym, I bought a package with a personal trainer, I changed my diet, and I will tell you that it was the best decision of my life. Why do I tell you this? Because it does not matter how others see you, you have to love yourself and accept yourself. If you want to make changes do it, nobody, no one will stop you. Skinny, fat, blonde, straight hair, or curly make sure you are in love with the woman you reflect in the mirror. Although I have left many of my insecurities such as driving, riding a bicycle, climbing mountains and facing heights, I still have a long way to go.
Women 40plus, it’s never too late to start, to learn something new, to break with the routine, but above all to love ourselves. This 2018 find within yourself the best person and motivate yourself to make your best version.
