Josh and Lisa’s Accountability to Health Corner
Monthly health tips from two people who learned the skills to become accountable to their own health
For both Lisa and myself we had to unlearn all of the traditional ways of what was widely known to be a healthy lifestyle. We went through years of “fad “diets and the mindset of that if you wanted to lose weight you had to starve yourself. What we both learned was that through proper nutrition everything with your mind, body, and soul can come back into alignment. Instead of seeing food as your enemy you can use it to make your health flourish!!!!
When it came to my journey I grew up with so many self doubts because of a trauma that I had at an early age. This led me to so many unhealthy eating habits but more importantly a mindset that I wasn’t capable of doing anything I wanted to. This all snowballed into a man who was almost 100 pounds overweight and little to no confidence. When I decided enough was enough I used food to regain my health back. It was no longer about what I wasn’t eating it was about what I was eating and how much of it. Eating the proper nutrition allowed my body to regain its health, confidence, lose weight, and feel like who I was destined to be.
What does proper nutrition look like? First, it starts with balanced meals. Every meal should have the proper amount of protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats. Your protein should be high quality, lean and consist of the right amount of grams for your body and goals. Your carbs should be unprocessed and clean, like rice, potatoes, and grains. Your fats should be healthy like avocado, coconut oil, and raw unsalted nuts. A healthy diet and lifestyle incorporate a balance of all these healthy macronutrients (protein, carbs and fats).
It is my goal that through this column we will impress upon all of you what we learned along the way. Was proper nutrition the only reason my health changed? No, it was the biggest key to my success. In the coming months we intend to share with you major points to help you in your health journey. Next month Lisa will share her story and what changed her health. In wellness and health,
