Palo Magazine welcomes our new writer Alfa Lopez. Her column will be called Alfa40plus.
What happened to me at 40? When I turned 40, I felt that it was another year, and it really was, but it was accompanied by great changes, acknowledgments and acceptance.
Among the great changes came what nature does on its own and we cannot avoid, hormonal changes. My skin was no longer the same, my weight was an imbalance, my emotions were found, and loneliness became my companion and many other things that I encountered. But I also recognized that it was my hormones that took me to my most beautiful and strong metamorphosis. Then I had to go to acceptance to counteract my hormonal changes. With acceptance I understood that I had to change my diet and exercise more for my physical and emotional health.
Entering the four decades is not easy, but it is possible to improve our lifestyle and make these years the best. At this stage of my life I discovered myself as a woman capable of doing much more than she could imagine. I gave myself a physical change with exercise routines and good food, I dared to look better and remodel my wardrobe with contemporary and modern clothes, I felt more daring, more adventurous. But with my changes came the unconstructive criticism of those who do not understand that self-love frees you, and that having forty or more and being a grandmother does not make you less attractive. That putting on a bikini does not make you provocative, but a secure woman; dressing with a touch of sexuality and heels, isn’t to compete or look like a teenager, but it helps reaffirm your beauty and remind yourself that despite the years you are still attractive, but especially a WOMEN.
As a human being I am not perfect and there are many issues with which I have to battle with, that is why I decided to create this group on Facebook and Instagram, Alfa40plus, because I know that just as myself many women have faced these changes alone and with thousands of questions without answers. Do you know we are not alone! I invite you to live our best years and to follow this group focused on supporting the women of the four decades.
