English: Fearful Parents Soon children will be back to school! Parents will be able to take a break. This year, parents should be advised about what programs schools have for their children. Here locally we have programs for migrants in schools; there are programs for college scholarships, and programs for your child to get free college credits just for knowing the Spanish language.Last year many students at Reading High received almost half a year of college credit for knowing their language. There are many programs that can help you and resources for poor and immigrant families but parents have to get involved in schools.I know there are parents who are afraid. They believe that immigration will be there when they are dropping or picking up their children at school.Although nothing is 100% we know that schools in this district are not cooperating with ICE. That ICE’s mandates are not to be in the schools and that there is no way to differentiate them when they are inside. Do not let fear take away your children’s future, send them to school. At school they will have opportunities to improve their lives. If you have seen a lawyer and your children currently has no way of achieving papers, do not worry at the schools there are technical programs where your child can learn how to work and repair computers, become a mechanic, learn construction, learn to cook and much more. These programs can help immigrant children learn jobs where they can start their own businesses and work, even if they do not have papers. Give your children a bright future by engaging in their education.
