Old Habits

English: At the start of spring many people take time to purge, organize and clean their homes. It is the start of a new season when the days are warmer and sunny, and the plants begin to bud signaling a new cycle. In some way this has a positive effect on people, they feel a need to have order and make certain changes. One effective way of maintaining order in the home is to find a place for everything and create the habit of putting things in the same place after every use. When people have their homes organized their minds are clearer and they can concentrate on the most important things, like dedicating more time to their children and establishing good communication with them.In the same way that you create the habit of putting everything in its place to maintain order, you can create the habit of communication with your children. When parents talk with their children at an early age about easy things, it is easier to talk about difficult things when the time comes because you have established a relationship of trust with them.If parents create a casual atmosphere of mutual respect, this will undoubtedly facilitate communications in the future. We can create the routine of asking, on a daily basis, “how was school?” “What new things did you learn?” This way parents will form a strong bond with their children and talking about more difficult things like sexual health, drug use or pregnancy will be something normal.
