This month we’re going to look at the coupons

English: Manufacturer Coupons: These coupons are issued by manufacturers. The most common place to find a mfg. coupon is in the Sunday coupon inserts. Smart Source, Red Plum and Procter & Gamble are the inserts that you find in most Sunday newspapers.Catalinas: These are the coupons that print out at the register. They are handed to you with your receipt. These coupons can be either store coupons or manufacturer coupons.Store Coupons: Store coupons are issued by the store. They are specifically to be used at the store. Many times store coupons can be stacked with a manufacturer coupon for additional savings. Always check your store coupon policy to verify the correct way to use the coupons.Blinkies: These coupons are then ones found in the little black boxes hanging on the shelf in front of the product they are for. They usually have a light on them that blinks, which is how they got the name “blinkies”. These are usually manufacturer coupons.Peelies: These coupons are placed right on products like a peel away sticker. It usually says “Save Now” on it. Just remember to peel if off and use it right away. You should not peel these off products that you are not going to buy; these are intended to be used with the product it is attached to. Some stores will not accept peelies unless they are removed by the cashier.Hangtags: Like Peelies, these coupons are usually found on the products to be used at the time of purchase. These can usually be found on bottled products such as drinks or laundry detergent.eCoupons: These are digital coupons that you can find online or on your store app. You can download them directly onto your shopper loyalty cards.Internet Printable: These are often referred to as IP’s. These are coupons that can be printed from websites. As I mentioned last month, online sources include websites like www.coupons.com and manufacturer’s websites. You can typically print 2 coupons per device; laptop, phone, tablet, etc. Do not photo copy coupons, it is illegal! There are other sources for coupons, but these are the most popular and most widely used. As you become a couponer, you will find yourself looking for coupons everywhere you go. The savings can be endless. Happy couponing!Noahleen Betts, DPMPodiatrist
